Support is Everything

So, my dears, I got my side by side comparison shot last night with my sweetheart, just about one year apart and pretty much worlds apart in so many ways.

But what I really want to talk about is giving a shout out to this man beside me. It’s not just me that is dealing with change. We met when I was 19, and married in 1987. So roughly 37 years of life together. 34 with rings on the fingers.

We have been through lots of things together, as all couples do. When it comes to this year, Neil has had to navigate how to care for a wife who has done a 180 in so many ways. Fears, frustrations, dietary changes, well…I could list so many more but I think you get me.

It is not lost on me that in the only one trying to re-map this life. Here’s what he does from behind the scenes. He’s the cook…he has learned what I can’t have and prepares my proteins with delicious yet healthy spices. He thinks of these things and delivers. He listens to me drone on about my fears or anxieties and comes up with ways to soften them. He sits with me at my appointments and asks questions. He encourages me to keep going every single day. He walks with me. He talks things out with me. He balances me.

I just want to publicly thank you, sweetheart, I’m not quite sure I would be doing so well without you.

Love, Sue

GB: I mean we all have our moments. Every day you feel a little different. And this is why I have a few watches. And this is Ethische Dilemmata why we have more than one pair of jeans. Like some days, we go for the black outfit link and some days we feel like we want link to have a pop of color. It's the same thing. And watches are just part of the look. I have small little watches and I have bigger watches.
