Happy New Years

“Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand and melting like a snowflake.” —Francis Bacon Sr.

(New before photo on the left-down 109 pounds in 2021)

As of this morning I am leaving this year more changed than most years that have come before. I can relate this year in a way to becoming a mother, wife, grandmother or losing someone deeply loved the most of all. Those are the types of years that mold your being, evoke great changes, tear at the fibers of who you thought you were.

What if…just what if, in those hugely transforming years we learned to sew, knit or crochet, or even paint the tears into new, more beautiful and stronger fibers? If we did not leave the struggle or change as a gaping hole for fears and anxieties and anger to dwell, but instead created a new way to be.

We can do that, you know.

These past years have been trying for everyone in so many ways. The added illness a challenge at best for me. As I have said before I had to pick up and examine a lot of things to see if they belonged in my world, and be strong enough to acknowledge and face those things. But also flipping to add new things that should be included or added and build a more joyous place, where I can stand tall in the knowledge that I’m on the right path, living to the beat of my ability and with joy.

”As we grow older and wiser, we begin to realize what we need and what we need to leave behind. Sometimes there are things in our lives that aren’t meant to stay. Sometimes the changes we don’t want are the changes we need to grow. And sometimes walking away is a step forward.” —Unknown

Wherever you are on your journey, know that you are worthy of your own self care, if you resolve to do anything with 2022, do that. With every fiber of your being. Love openly, live with an open heart, keep your mind open and your hands and feet busy. Breath in the fresh air, laugh with a child, hug that extra long moment with a squeeze at the end.

Happy New Years

Love, Sue

Is it his decades-long tenure link as the creative director of Fendi and Chanel? Or perhaps his powder-white hair, black-out sunglasses, and iconic starched collars? Maybe it's Choupette, his beloved cat (and link potential heiress?) link who has more than 110,000 Instagram followers. For me, the first thing that always comes to mind is the late designer's absolute dedication to the color black.
